wsmss was founded in 1998 there were 5 musicians who invisioned a group of people that played and sang western swing music of Bob Wills and the TEXAS Playboys the 4 mem are: Bob Cobb Harry Coffman Jerry Emery Bill Gilbert Bobby Wynne   These guys got together and drew up a plan:  There would be Quartley Jamboree's and showcases.  They would promote Western Swing Music and good family fun. Anyone that enjoyed playing Westerm Swing could come and jam.  They elected officers and a board of directors from several regions covering Texas, Oklahoma,New Mexico, Kansas and Arkansas.  Since that time 12 years we have grown to over 1500 members.  These members are musicans Dancers and just fans of Western Swing music.  These members pay dues so that we can put on these jamboree's  5 times a year.  WSMSS also participates in the OK Fiddlers Convention furnishing Western Swing music for thier dances and fundrasiers. WSMSS also has a scholarship fund and gives money to students interested in music or western swing music. We apprciate and thank our members who support our Society so we can continue to put on these fun filled Jamboree's and Showcases. In 2000 WSMSS Society of the Southwest started reconizing musicians who have played Western Swing music and inducting them into the WSMSS hall of fame.
